I am a descendant of children sent to boarding school. This education system created mixing of blood different tribes. My grandparents were the last full blood in my line. My father is Hopi and Pima. It was not easy to grow up less than full, but I managed to make it work, by learning as much as I could from each tribe. Today I feel blessed to have the privilege of multiple tribal perspectives. It starts with clarity.

“Vickie’s paintings are beautiful. They reflect the guidance of Spirit. Spirit of the Universe’s very old stories, visions, and perspectives. I find a spiritual meaning every time I gaze upon her work.”

Carrie Dallas, Hopi and Pima

Vickie’s art connects to the way we as Native People share our oral traditional stories. Through her dreams and experiences, she creates a spiritual process through various styles of art. It is from her heart she believes her paintings are a prayer and have their own “spiritual energy.” I respect Vickie as a highly professional Artist and her inspiration she has with the natural and spiritual world as she creates the past, present, and future through her art.

“Vickie’s prayer paintings are healing, inviting us to open our hearts and mind to the power within and to the deep connection to the divine and to each other.”

Your beautiful painting emanates the spirit world and feels like it should be in a chapel. You are a master of artistic expression and workmanship. I love every detail. It brings me to tears.

Artists find their inspiration and purpose from a variety of places. Some find it in nature to stimulate their creative juices. Regardless of the source, the purpose is to communicate to the soul. Art is the language of the soul. Regardless of the source, the purpose is to communicate to the soul. Some find spirit to the place they find inspiration. Regardless of what sparks artists to create, it always boils down to what touches the soul. Art that is created from the soul has deep rooted ancient purpose. Vickie’s artwork is deeply connected to spirit, and it shows. Her work has soulful meaning and deep stories, and it makes my heart sing when I view her work.
