New blog series

It’s time for me to tell you my story…

Twenty-two years ago I had a dream about Chipeta, a Ute woman born in 1843. In this early morning vision she asked me to write her story. I would take an extraordinary journey to uncover her past, and while in the process, come face-to-face with my own history and need for healing. What started out as a historical novel for young adults, soon became a pathway to healing my heart and transforming my spirit.

It has taken me 15 years to write this account, and I have finally completed this book project. However, I have decided the printed book will not materialize at this time. I wanted to make this story available to readers at no charge, so that you might understand the power of a dream and how it can lead us forward into the most unexpected places.

From tranquilizers to tranquility, my journey to write the book Searching for Chipeta brought incredible joy and beauty into my life. Through a world of art and connections to the Native American culture, and to many wonderful individuals from the Ute tribes of Colorado and Utah, the Lakota, Nakota, Dakota Sioux tribal members, Cheyenne and Arapaho, as well as, many others I met along the way. I am forever grateful for their generosity in sharing their knowledge and cultures with me, and most important spiritual connections to the Cosmos and the world around us. My life is forever changed.

It was through this celestial visit from Chipeta on that April morning in 2000, I would also find my voice and healing through the writing of her story and eventually come face-to-face with the “good, the bad, and the ugly” parts of my life. I invite you and your friends to join me on this sacred journey, as I tell you my story in a series of 25 “chapters”. I hope it will inspire you to live your best life, and to embrace your own amazing gifts and abilities.

My weekly series will begin, on Monday September 12th. I will include images from my travels and artwork, which currently hangs at the Ute Indian Museum in Montrose, Colorado.
